Cygnus is now available from her 2nd owner. Perviously Cygnus was owned by Ernest E. Chipman, a chemical engineer for Productol Chemical Co. in Long Beach CA. Mr. Chipman was a true gentleman of the first order.  He purchased Cygnus new hull #11 and campaigned the boat very successfully for many years, including the 1969 Transpac and 1970 Congressional Cup. In his retirement he lived in La Jolla, CA, but every year took the boat back to Long Beach and from there for frequent trips to Santa Catalina, where he maintained a mooring. He served as and active member of the Columbia 50 website, mentor and friend in the late 80s--never to be forgotten. He died in 2006 at the age of 90--a great loss to the Columbia 50 community.
